Audition Information

The District IX  High School Honor Band are made up of the top student musicians in the district, grades 9-12. The students will go through one audition and will be recorded once. The audition will be recorded at 1 of the sites listed below and sent off to local judges to see who makes the ensemble. All students auditioning for HS District/All-State will need to play the All-State 2nd Rd audition requirements (Set 3 cuts, 12 scales, sight-reading). High School Audition Information

Registration deadline for directors: Wednesday, September 9, 2026 (Student deadlines will likely be earlier. Ask your band director if you have questions)

Audition dates and locations: 

Site1 - Monday , September 28 , 2026 @ Slidell High School

Site 2 - Tuesday, September 29, 2026 @ Mandeville High School

Audition cost: $20 per audition slot, paid through the student's band program.  Please contact your student's band director for more information.

Audition Materials

Audition Material will be the same as the all-state requirements. Audition requirements and procedures can be found on the LMEA All-State Band webpage.

Rehearsals and Participation Fees

• If your child is selected as a member of the District IX HS/JH High Honor Concert band, there is a $20 participation fee.  Participation fee is to be paid directly to your child's band program.  Please talk with your child's director(s) to see how this fee will be handled.

• Schedule: As a member of this prestigious group your child is expected to be at the following rehearsals:

-January 7, 2027    6:00pm-8:30 pm   Pottle Music Building, Southeastern Louisiana University 

-January 8, 2027    9:00am-4:00 pm   Pottle Music Building, Southeastern Louisiana University

(lunch break at 11:30) *Lunch Provided by the District    

-January 9, 2027   9:00am-Noon         Pottle Music Building, Southeastern Louisiana University 

-Jr. High Concert starts at Noon

-High School Concert Starts at 1pm

Concert attire is concert black.
