Middle School District Honor Choir

Eligibility
Students in grades 4 - 6 whose directors are current members of LMEA are eligible to audition. A student auditioning for the District Honor Choir must be a member of their school's vocal music program.

Audition Requirements
Students auditioning for Middle School Honor Choir will be required to sing the appropriate selection from the four-year cycle listed below in his/her vocal part with the official district accompaniment. Learning tracks are available to directors in the District IX Vocal Directors google classroom. The audition track will be provided at the time of audition.
Prepared Choral Selection
2022-23 – "The Ash Grove" arr. Linda Spevacek, Heritage Music Press, #10047300, Two-part. Students will audition on mm. 1-43 Part 2.
2023-24 – "And This Shall Be for Music" Mary Lynn Lightfoot, Hertiage Music Press, #10047300, Two-part. Students will audition on mm. 1-20, Part 1.
2024-25 – "Let There Be Song" by Dave and Jean Perry, Brilee Music Pub. Co., #BL538, Unison/Two-Part.
2025-26 – "The Water is Wide" by Ruth Elaine Schram, BriLee Music Pub. Co. #B506, Unison, optional Two-part. Students will audition on mm. 1-22.
America
Students will also sing the melody of "America" unaccompanied in his/her vocal range. Students should choose their own starting pitch.
