District IX Jr. High Jazz Band

Auditions will take place Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at Madisonville Jr. High

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

The audition fee is $10. The audition includes scales, prepared material and sight reading. All audition materials, including rehearsal and audition tracks available for download from the site above.

Scales - Selected major scales will be required for the audition. A copy of the scale sheet for each instrument can be found at the top of this page.  Drum set players will not perform scales.  Instead, they will need to demonstrate 4 grooves: swing, latin, funk, and rock.

Prepared Material - Each instrument has two etudes to perform along with a play-along track. Those etudes can be found in the links at the top of the page.

SIGHT-READING - Students will sight-read a short selection as part of their audition.

District Jazz Band Rehearsals/Concert:

There is a participation fee of $20 for every student who participates in the District Jazz Band. This will be paid to your school’s band director.
